EMC records rocketing growth in ANZ

EMC has doubled its net income worldwide in a year for both its hardware and software businesses, despite many other storage companies showing very little growth, and this success is due largely to the success of its Centera compliance solution.

This enormous shift in growth is reflected in Australia and New Zealand too. The total consolidated revenue for EMC's second quarter was US$1.97 billion, 33 percent higher than the US$1.48 billion reported for the second quarter of 2003.

Net income for the quarter was US$193 million, 136 percent higher than the US$82 million reported for the second quarter of 2003.

The Centera product has been EMC's most successful solution in the company's history, having received 40 percent growth since last year.

Steve Redman, the company's Australian and New Zealand managing director talked about the success in ANZ and the future challenges ahead. "This enormous worldwide success is mirrored in the Australian and New Zealand market. We won 66 new customers in the last quarter in this region and also experienced 33 percent growth over the last quarter.

"The Centera product has been a phenomenon. It has received such widespread success since it was set loose on the market 18 months ago because it helps to manage many of the compliance worries that are a significant concern for many organisations at the moment.

"Our Clariion line of storage products has also received huge growth too. Our next aim is to release IT replication solutions in NAS systems so that customers will have more choice between NAS and SAN store solutions. We are looking to eventually become a world leader in IP storage."

Joe Tucci, EMC's president and CEO added. "The main driver of this growth was strong execution of our information lifecycle management strategy and solutions, which are enjoying an excellent reception from our customers and the overall IT marketplace."
