TNS charges forward with new SAN services

Total Network Solutions will expand into the storage market over the next twelve months to offer enterprise class, open system storage solutions from vendors such as Sandial, StorAge, Emulex and Decru.

Total Network Solutions (TNS) traditionally targets customers in the public and private sectors with SANs and security components, but it is aiming to deliver a balanced product portfolio with this new venture, which will integrate with existing infrastructures.

TNS has network switches as a ballast product and old maintenance contracts, but it is conscious that it needs a new technology to take the company forward.

It realises that huge increases in email use, customer database requirements and user file sizes have made the need for storage more of a corporate issue than just solely an IT one.

It hopes that its open systems approach will allow customers to make upgrades more easily than is done with traditional, proprietary closed-systems.

The recent high level implementation of SANs recently by organisations indicates that previous barriers of interoperability between different vendor products and a lack of Fibre Channel skills in IT department is now no longer such a big problem as it used to be.

TNS has pointed out that one of the advantages of using a range of open-standard SAN products will allow users to avoid vendor lock-in from larger SAN suppliers and will allow SANs to integrate into already set-up storage systems much more conveniently.

TNS will offer 24/7 maintenance, helpdesk support services, network monitoring, analysis, diagnosis and configuration management services.
