Sony lightens load of office files

Sony has released a new portable disk drive specifically designed to create a data library and photo diary for business people who need to back up important documents, presentations, sound files, images and photographs whilst on the move.

Sony Australia's new 40GB Portable Hard Disk Storage device (HDPSM1) is being touted by Sony as an adequate replacement for notebook to store and transport large files such as PowerPoint presentations.

Mr Alex Yee, the product manager for digital imaging at Sony Australia Limited said: "While portable storage devices aren't new, previously they have been better suited to the tech savvy customer.

"The HDPSM1 incorporates easy-to-use yet intelligent software to create an accessible image or data library in the form of a photo diary. For business people, the versatile hard drive storage device provides a safe back-up solution for important documents and sound files."

Alternatively, people taking up to 36 shots a day would easily fill five separate 64MB memory cards using five separate 64MB memory cards over the course of two weeks, or power up a notebook every few days to download the files and free up space on the memory stick or notebook.

For users whose computer hard drives are clogged with old images that they do notwish to burn and archive on CD or DVD, the 40GB drive can operate as a convenient'extra hard drive'.
