Citrix Unveil NetScaler MPX Web Application Delivery System

Month Date, 2008: Citrix has announced the release of NetScaler MPX, the new web application delivery system that aims to slash datacentre costs.

In a time when datacentre costs are being examined in microscopic detail, Citrix is looking to help the cost conscious with the release of NetScaler MPX. The web application delivery system runs on a multi-core system architecture that increases capacity and delivers 2.5 times more web applications with the same footprint.

Citrix are hailing NetScaler MPX as the industry's first web application delivery controller to drive greater than ten gigabits per second (Gbps) of application performance.

“With its high-performance architecture, NetScaler MPX relieves key customer pain points in large, dynamic datacenters, including the challenge of reducing power consumption while managing traffic loads that are beginning to cross the 10 Gbps threshold,” said Cindy Borovick, Research Vice President for IDC’s Datacenter Networks service.

Capitalising on the drive to go 'green' in the datacentre, NetScaler promises to reduce power consumption by using 50% less power than previous generation appliances. The solution also integrates with Citrix XenServer to automatically allocate server resources to the required application.

“As applications become more dynamic, so must the network and datacenters that support these resource-intensive applications,” said Klaus Oestermann, vice president and general manager, Application Networking Group for Citrix Systems. “NetScaler MPX solutions provide the critical set of application delivery and infrastructure virtualization services necessary to transform static datacenters into dynamic delivery centers.”
