LSI Acquires Infineon

March 12, 2008: LSI has given its hard drive business a major boost with the announcement that it will be purchasing Infineon Technologies’ HDD semiconductor business.

The company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire all of Infinion’s HDD assets including hardware, software, intellectual property and customer relations.

“Through the addition of the Infineon HDD business, LSI has taken another significant step toward becoming the leading worldwide provider of silicon solutions for hard disk drive makers,” said Ruediger Stroh, executive vice president and general manager, Storage Peripherals Group, LSI.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed and the acquisition is expected to be finalised in Q2, 2008.
