PeopleSoft want Oracle executives to face court

PeopleSoft has issued a request to interview Oracle executives as part of the lawsuit it has launched against Oracle for alleged unfair business practices, according to a US court filing.

Among the senior Oracle figures that PeopleSoft is seeking the Alameda County Superior Court's permission to interview are the Senior Vice President of Applications Development and the Executive Vice President of Global Support Services. PeopleSoft, which is currently the subject of a long and protracted hostile takeover bid by Oracle, claims that Oracle misled PeopleSoft customers and the general public on the level of support that would be given to PeopleSoft products post-merger, and were also misleading over the ease of migration to Oracle products.

PeopleSoft is also unhappy at the manner in which Oracle has conducted its takeover bid – having extended the deadline of its tender offer a number of times since its initial bid last June.

Meanwhile, Oracle is expecting to receive a decision from the US Department of Justice on whether it will block a takeover on anti-competitive grounds by early March. The bid is also being scrutinised by European antitrust regulators, who have set a deadline of March 30. For Oracle's bid to progress, it would have to receive approval from both agencies.
