HP introduces continuity services to resellers

HP will begin offering business continuity services through resellers as part of a revamped sales model announced by the vendor. The services allow organisations to quickly recover from a disaster or major disruption to their IT infrastructure through the provision of off site infrastructure and services.

Under the sales model, resellers will be engaged to provide pre-sales support and manage on going customer relationships for a range of consulting, IT and workplace continuity services.

Steve Cartland, South Pacific Manager, Business Continuity and Recovery Services, said high demand for business continuity services had prompted the reseller engagement.

"This move significantly extends our sales force reach as well as provides considerable revenue opportunity for HP Services' major resellers," adding, "the current regulatory and best practice environment has encouraged many Australian organisations to seek business continuity services, and the timing from a reseller point of view could not be better."

Peter Williams, Managing Director of Starcom, an HP Services reseller, said the offering was welcomed.

"HP has a very strong reputation in the business continuity arena and we are looking forward to taking this offering to a wider range of organisations," said Williams.

"With these types of services we are not just selling a service; we are also providing peace of mind. Our clients will be comfortable knowing HP is their safety net."

In other news, HP has also appointed Shawn Brown as its business continuity business development manager.

Brown joins HP after more than eight years in varied IT roles in Australia and the United States. He was formerly employed by Atos Origin Australia.
