HP battling for SMB market on price

Hewlett-Packard is making a concerted effort to grab a large share of the small to medium business (SMB) market with a set of rebranded and repackaged storage offerings that HP say heavily undercut the prices of similar offerings form the likes of IBM and Dell/EMC.

The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array (MSA) suite consists of two direct attached storage devices and one storage area network (SAN) device.

"The HP StorageWorks MSA family broadens HP's storage portfolio while creating a robust, entry-level storage solution that tightly integrates the HP ProLiant server line to offer the industry's most affordable high-performance server-storage solution," said Nigel Ball, Vice President, Small and Medium Business, HP. "By combining HP storage and server offerings, we have simplified the purchase, use, management and maintenance for small and medium businesses."
