IBA Health looking rosy after acquisitions

Australian medical information systems provider IBA Health has made a major step into the Australian GP sector with the acquisition of Australian Healthcare Technology (AHT), for $3.6 million in IBA Health shares.

AHT provides practice management and electronic medical record systems for GPs, specialists and ancillary providers, with nearly 1000 practices across the country using its systems.

This, coupled with last week's $2.2 million acquisition of practice management and clinical systems provider Medical Spectrum, provides IBA Health with over 6000 Australian primary care sites.

IBA Health's chairman Gary Cohen said the double acquisition "makes IBA Health now the leading provider of financial and administration systems to Australian GPs. These acquisitions continue IBA's strategy of becoming the leading Australian provider of information systems to Healthcare providers across the Healthcare network, ranging from GPs through to major Hospitals. It also positions IBA Health as a central player in the Australian Government’s Electronic Health Record initiatives."
