Accreditation opens doors for FileNet

Content management systems provider FileNet has secured accreditation from the NSW Government's GSAS (Government Selected Application Systems) panel for providing records and information systems.

The accreditation is highly significant, as without it, Filenet would not be able to compete for contracts from the NSW State Contracts Control Board for ITS 2323, which issues all the contracts for records and information management systems within the NSW government and government organisations.

James Rae, managing director of FileNet Australia/New Zealand, outlined the vendor's value proposition in the government sector. "The key differentiator we offer as a GSAS panel contract supplier lies in our business process management (BPM) capabilities. FileNet solutions offer unique capabilities such as event-driven "active" content, providing the ability to improve business processes. FileNet ECM can address more than pure records management requirements. Our platform architecture offers a broader approach to resolving operational and enforcement issues required to sustain a viable corporate records compliance program."

Meanwhile, FileNet has announced its support for application infrastructure software provider BEA's WebLogic Platform 8.1, which provides business integration through the convergence of application development and integration.

"The BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 is significant because it can provide our customers with the ability to deploy FileNet P8 technology on a unified, standards-based platform," said Rae. "We believe that this produces a number of tangible benefits, including reduced deployment cost, greater information accessibility across multiple business applications, and reduced total cost of ownership."
