Homecoming for new Fujitsu Australia chief

Fujitsu Australia Limited has appointed Rod Vawdrey as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Vawdrey returns home to his native Australia after four years in the US in senior executive sales and marketing roles at NCR Corporation headquarters. In his most recent role as Vice President, Worldwide Sales & Marketing, Retail at NCR, Rod was responsible for sales and professional services in four regions: Americas, Europe, Japan and Asia Pacific.

Nori Karasuda, Group Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific Global Business Development Group, Fujitsu Limited, who has also been fulfilling the role of Australian CEO on an interim basis, welcomed Vawdrey to the Fujitsu Group.

"Rod has more than 15 years of senior executive management experience with NCR Corporation and a proven track record in strategic leadership and delivering results. Rod is able to bring both regional and global knowledge to the position together with valuable experience in building, leading and motivating successful teams.

"The Australian ICT industry continues to experience what is still a tough and challenging market. Rod's experience in developing strategy, defining product portfolios and industry solutions, and developing successful sales teams will provide an excellent platform to continue to build Fujitsu's strong and highly successful track record in delivering IT and telecommunications infrastructure products and services for the enterprise."

Vawdrey said the lure of coming home to head the Australian division of such a large concern proved impossible to resist.

"Fujitsu is, without doubt, one of the most formidable players in the global ICT market. I'm looking forward to working with the Fujitsu team, our partners and our channel to leverage the global resources of the Fujitsu group to deliver innovative solutions for our customers."
