Storage Alliance acquires Strata

Data storage and content management solution provider Storage Alliance has completed the acquisition of Strata Web Systems, which provides Internet and Internet mapping and information management systems for the energy industry and other related industries.

Storage Alliance's focus is also in this market, providing storage and content management systems for the petroleum industry, which relies heavily on computer data. The company's systems protect and manage seismic and related petroleum exploration and production data, delivering that data with analytical applications and workflow tools.

Strata Web aggregates and integrates geotechnical data from multiple databases, including data obtained from both public and proprietary sources, and presents it in a graphical format through an Internet browser.

The Strata Web DataMap product displays well locations on a map together with other pertinent spatial data, including land grid and lease boundaries, pipeline facilities, active rig locations and seismic data through use of a geographic information system (GIS) interface. Accessing external and internal data through a common map interface provides real-time data integration and enables users to monitor and analyse industry activity and perform portfolio analysis.

"This acquisition is a significant opportunity and a perfect fit for our business," stated Jeff Ascah, President and CEO of Storage Alliance. "With a long list of satisfied customers, Strata Web's DataMap product line stands on it’s own as an industry leader in functionality and web-based delivery. Additionally, this will save Storage Alliance the significant time and cost associated with developing this important software component ourselves, while providing near term revenue growth."

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
