NetApp's Australasian chief wins new role

Network storage solution provider Network Appliance has rewarded the contribution made by its Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, Michael Burnie, by appointing him in the newly created role of Managing Director, South Asia.

The company said that the promotion recognises Burnie's outstanding record of sales achievement since joining the company in October 2000. During his two and a half year tenure as MD for Australia and NZ, local revenues have grown more than five-fold, with a similar expansion in market share.

Announcing the appointment, Asia Pacific Vice President Tom Chin, said, "Mike's strong contribution to the business is one of the factors that enabled us to recently announce our sixth straight quarter of profitable growth.  He has done a great job in the Australian and New Zealand markets and we look forward to his continuing success at a regional level."

The newly named NetApp South Asia region encompasses India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, in addition to Australia and New Zealand.

Burnie will continue to be based in Sydney. His successor in the Australia/New Zealand MD role is expected to be announced soon.
