EMC to spin software for SilkWorm

Strengthening EMC's position as a software developer and its relationship with Brocade is the announcement that EMC will develop infrastructure software for the new Brocade SilkWorm Fabric Application Platform.

"Our team work with EMC will help significantly extend the functionality of managing and administering enterprise storage environments," said the VP of Brocade in Asia Pacific Robert Chu.

Brocade's SilkWorm Fabric Application Platform was announced last month and is the first open platform for fabric based applications.

This deal continues a strong relationship between EMC and Brocade. EMC's Connectrix brand is actually Brocade's SilkWorm Core Fabric switches.
