The radius of Brocade

Brocade is to demonstrate that its Secure Fabric Operating System and Microsoft's Windows Server Internet Authentication Service are compliant with the Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service or RADIUS.

The demonstration will takes place at the Storage Networking World show in Phoenix.

"RADIUS is a desirable element in a complete security strategy because itserves as a trusted third party, providing access control, authentication, and authorisation across the IT infrastructure. Brocade activelyparticipates in the INCITS Technical Committee T11's activities that extendthe security capabilities of Fibre Channel SANs to include authenticationmechanisms that can be integrated with a RADIUS environment," said RobertSnively, the chairman of the INCITS Technical Committee T11.

RADIUS can be integrated with storage area network (SAN) security to provide essential support for DH-CHAP and other security mechanisms being standardised by the INCITSTechnical Committee T11.  RADIUS, an IETF standard protocol, is widely used for authenticating, authorising, and auditing users and devices in anetwork to previously defined permissions, based on existing enterprisepolicy. Related Article:
