Exabyte first to chew into Apple market

Exabyte's 221 Ultrium tape library has been certified for use with Apple's new storage systems. The TOLIS Group has integrated its BRU Command Line Interface data protection software for the Exabyte 221L so that it can be used with the Apple Xserve and storage products.

The Exabyte Ultrium can be used with the Apple OS X operating system as well as the Xserve and Xserve RAID storage server systems.

"We're seeing sustainable BRU CLI throughput performance in excess of 66.5MB a second form Apple's Xserve RAID storage platforms with combined dual drive throughput to the Exabyte 221L native Fibre Channel library of over 40 MB per seconds. In this configuration, the solution will back up 108GB in an hour," said Tim Jones, the president of the TOLIS Group.
