Second generation arrives
The second generation of LTO tape drive is now available from Quantum. The American company has announced that its latest ATL SuperLoader autoloader supports LTO-2 and LTO-1 formats.
The new LTO-2 drives are manufactured by Hewlett-Packard (HP). Quantum claims that the new drives have double the capacity of their LTO-1 library product. Backwards capability for read and write functions with LTO-1 is available with the LTO-2.
Quantum said that its ATL P-series and SuperLoader tape libraries support both LTO and DLT technology.
LTO-2 tape libraries are available in Australia now through Quantum's channel partners.
