German document management solution IXOS eCONserver now supports the Microsoft SharePoint 2.0, adding to the connectivity IXOS offer to SAP, Lotus and Siebel systems.

IXO eCONserver for Microsoft SharePoint 2.0 adds a records management application to the portal application. End users will also be able to collaborate online through the application; a popular addition to document and records management applications as can be seen by the recent acquisition of eRoom by Doumentum.

As an integrated part of SharePoint the IXOS solution will enable documents to be given access rights, attributes and secure storage. As document retention becomes increasingly important to senior executives, IXOS has added defined retention period functions to the system, which can convert documents to either a TIFF or PDF format.

"Using IXOS e-CONserver for SharePoint, documents and attributes are archived from the WebStore to durable storage media and then removed, using rule based functionality. This significantly reduces the data volumes of the WebStore, thereby optimising the performance of SharePoint portal," said Roman Gotter, the product manager for IXOS of its storage abilities.
