Iomega extends NAS line

Iomega has added several units with 720GB capacity to its network attached storage range.

The P415m and P415u devices, supporting Windows and Unix file serving, incorporates a 1GHz Pentium III chip, hot-swappable 180GB ATA hard drives, RAID 0, 1, and 5 support, and dual 10/100 Ethernet ports. While the P415u only supports Gigabit Ethernet, the P415m model allows a choice of the Gigabit Ethernet or SCSI protocols to perform backup operations, according to the company.

Both models are bundled with an application called Iomega Automatic Backup, which the company said was a data protection program that automates designated file backups.

P415 units operating in a Windows 2000 Advanced Server environment can also make use of the features of the server OS, including Distributed file system service, Active Directory services, Persistent Storage Manager, and the File Replication service.

Buyers of the device in Australia and New Zealand will have the Iomega Gold on-site service included in the base price for the system, and will have the opportunity to upgrade their support to Gold Plus rating.
