Neo gets two ticks

Overland Storage's Neo Series of tape automation hardware has gained two ticks of approval from IBM and BakBone Software in certifying for use with their storage products.

The more important of the two announcements was that of IBM, which said that it had begun shipping Neo Series devices with its eServer xSeries hardware. The Neo Series 2000 products were chosen to complement IBM's Super DLT and LTO Ultrium tape storage products, providing connectivity to direct attached storage or storage area networks.

Meanwhile, BakBone Software announced that it had certified the Neo Series with Hewlett-Packard's Ultrium Generation 2 tape drive. BakBone said that the two products together would double the capacity and performance of first generation storage hardware. For its part, BakBone said it hoped to attract users of the combined solution to also use its own NetVault storage management software.
