DataCore Releases Virtual SAN Software

February 27, 2008: DataCore has introduced a new line of SAN virtualisation offerings aimed at business continuity and disaster recovery.

The company is taking the ‘affordable’ line with the new range, and what’s more, has made the Virtual Storage Solutions run on just about everything under the sun. Supported platforms include VMware, Microsoft VS, Oracle VM, SUN VM, Virtual Iron and Citrix XenServer, while Intel and AMD based hardware servers and blades are also supported.

Capacity ranges from 2TB to 32TB, and all configurations include auto-allocating thin provisioning storage support, SANmotion data migration technology, storage performance acceleration caching software, snapshots for fast disk backups and auto failover and auto recovery data protection via synchronous network mirroring. Remote site IP mirror replication for disaster recovery is also supported.

DataCore claims this solution is the “simplest and most affordable” way to dive into a virtual SAN without sacrificing features or scalability.

“These feature-packed hardware independent software solutions truly pack a punch,” claims George Teixeira, president and CEO, DataCore Software. “They can thin provision storage capacity, migrate data via SANmotion, accelerate storage performance, and create high-speed disk copies for fast disk backup and recovery. Best of all DataCore is portable software – enabling these solutions to survive over multiple generations of hardware platforms.”

The range starts at US$4,500 (AU$4,865) for the 2TB option.
