NEC bundles up Veritas
Storage management software provider Veritas will bundle its NetBackup and Backup Exec with NEC's Express 5800 Backup Model Intel-based servers.
Under the agreement, the data protection solution NetBackup will be bundled with NEC's high-end backup server designed to store large scale mission-critical information. Backup Exec, which provides distributed data protection for Windows NT, will be bundled with NEC's entry-level servers.
According to the companies, this deal has come from the rise of '.com' businesses, for whom the need for data protection has grown exponentially. It is also an expansion of the companies' strategic partnership, as NEC also provides Veritas File System and Volume Manager with its UNIX solutions.
