Forte adds XML, Java

Sun Microsystems is incorporating enhanced support for eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and Java technologies into its Forte Fusion enterprise application integration (EAI) suite.

Fusion uses an XML-based integration backbone and eXtensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) for data integration.

In addition, Forte Fusion will be enhanced to support Java technology-based adapters and Sun's Java Message Queue 1.0 enterprise messaging software.

XML and XSL are rapidly becoming the preferred mechanisms for sharing data across otherwise autonomous systems to create extended e-commerce applications. Version 1.0 of the XSLT specification, announced in November by the World Wide Web Consortium (www.w3.org), provides an open standards-based framework for converting data from the native semantics of one application into the format required by another.
