Gartner Group Pacific has appointed Neil McMurchy research director for its Pacific research and advisory services based in its Sydney office. Mr McMurchy will be responsible for research, advice and support for Gartner Group clients throughout the Asia Pacific region.

He will be specialising in ERP and CRM strategies and directions, the evolution of ERP into CRM and e-commerce and the management of cultural change in organisations moving into a customer centric focus.

Prime Response has appointed Ricky Kapur as general manager of its Asia-Pacific operations, focussing on its marketing automation software business in Asia. Mr Kapur was previously with SAS Institute Australia for more than eight years.

Veritas Software Corporation has appointed Narelle Wilson to the new position of general manager, marketing for Australia and New Zealand. Ms Wilson was previously manager of the Distribution and Retail Channels team at Sirius Technologies.

The GMB Group has appointed Florence Derrien as the head of a national team that will expand the company beyond the information management products it is known for. Based in GMB's Sydney head office, Ms Derrien will operate nationally in conjunction with the group's US and interstate offices. Ms Derrien has 10 years' Australian and international experience in government and corporate IT.

Data capture and wireless solutions provider Telxon has appointed Gary Woods to the position of national alliance manager. Mr Woods spent the past four years at networking equipment manager Scitec.

Telxon has also appointed Amanda Preston to the position of senior account manager. Ms Preston previously spent almost four years in AAPT's corporate and government division. Angus Hyde is another new senior account manager, who joins Telxon with experience working on developing telecommunications solutions.

Hewlett-Packard Australia has appointed Todd Parsons as marketing service manager for its commercial channels organisation. Mr Parsons was previously the channel sales and marketing manager for HP's New Zealand office.

SCO Pacific has a new professional services manager. Patrick Lin will be based in Sydney where his role is to develop SCO's Professional Services organisation in Australia. Mr Lin has 10 years' IT industry experience, specialising in Unix-based systems.

Adobe Systems has appointed Michael Stoddart as segment evangelist for Asia Pacific, a role that will include responsibility for creating, analysing, marketing and selling Adobe's cross-media workflow solutions. Mr Stoddart was formerly the graphics marketing manager for Adobe Asia Pacific.

Hitachi Data Systems has appointed a new Storage Area Networks (SAN) manager for its Australia and New Zealand businesses. Steve Robins has previously worked for Hitachi Data Systems for six years in Australia, the US, North Asia and Hong Kong.

Another new Hitachi appointment is Garry Scarborough, who will take over the role of director of operations for Australia and New Zealand. Mr Scarborough has over 20 years' experience in international sales and marketing for IT companies, and before returning to Australia in 1998 he spent eight years in Hong Kong working as marketing and business director for Cisco Systems, Unisys and ICL.
