The ninth Information Online and On Disc Australasian conference and exhibition is to be held from January 19-21, 1999, at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The conference will feature information professionals from the legal, scientific, medical, financial, business and library communities.

Keynote speakers include: Lynne Brindley, pro-vice chancellor and university librarian for the University of Leeds in the UK, Warwick Cathro, assistant director general, National Library of Australia and Anne Lipow, founder and director of Library Solutions Institute and Press in the US.

Delegates can attend a number of different streams during the three days such as globalisation and electronic communities, search engines, standards, strategic alliances, knowledge management, document delivery, future trends, disc technology, and subject focus sessions on business/competitive intelligence and gateways/interfaces.

The Information Online and On Disc 99 exhibition will comprise more than 100 companies show casing the latest in technology and products to assist information professionals.

On Friday 22, a series of satellite events will be held following on from the conference. These include a full day seminar on EMBASE, the database of pharmacology and clinical medicine and an Internet clinic where experts from libraries and information services will speak on a range of topics including getting the most out of your browser, selecting search engines, the best reference sites for your subject and keeping track of Internet trends.
