ONStor Pushes Presence Further Into Asia-Pacific

By Greg McNevin

January 14, 2008: Clustered NAS vendor ONStor is further expanding its presence in Asia-Pacific, pushing its operations much further into the Chinese market with a new office in Beijing, and the appointment of a new Managing Director.

Industry veteran Kin Lai has been appointed Managing Director of Greater China and Singapore and will work out of the new Beijing office, marking a significant expansion of the company’s current operations in Japan.

The firm is looking to build sales opportunities within Greater China, targeting large enterprises with data centres that store significant amounts of data storage and require flexible data management, data protection, and file server consolidation for primary and value tier storage.

ONStor says that in particular it will be focusing on horizontal market applications, government accounts, Web 2.0 companies and other businesses whose operations rely on data intensive environments.

“Because China has one of the fastest growing storage markets in the world, with a growth rate of more than 20 percent annually, we believe this market offers tremendous opportunity to expand our business and win market share from the competition,” said Bob Miller, ONStor CEO.
