Compaq has become a reseller and systems integrator for the IPS content management application from Open Market. Pointcast casts for last time

Pointcast, one of the pioneers of what has now become content management, has made its last broadcast of its "push technology" service.

The Pointcast Network, which was a subscription service for news and other content which was sent continuously over the Internet, was one of the first demonstrations of the power of the Net to change the way people accessed information. The company sent out an email to its users in February announcing the last broadcast over the network.

Pointcast has now been taken over by a small firm called Idealab, which has turned its technology into a toolbar product which delivers personalised news and stock quotes.
