Eaton Debuts Energy-Saving UPSs
August 18, 2008: Eaton has introduced a new line of energy saving uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) that it says cut energy use and excess heat when installed in network racks.
The company says its new line of Pulsar M UPSs is the first on-line double-conversion UPS in its class with an adaptable, multi-position, hot-swappable Power Distribution Unit (FlexPDU).
It says that this provides a space saving method of adding receptacles to the back, side or top of the UPS, freeing up space in dense rack environments.
“Energy efficiencies and power availability are key concerns in today's IT environment. Our new Pulsar M models give users the best of both worlds: high power availability while using an exceptionally efficient UPS design that minimizes heat – thus reducing equipment cooling costs,” said Hervé Tardy, vice president and general manager, Distributed Power Quality Business Unit of Eaton.
“These important features together with flexible power distribution, hot-swappable battery modules and scalable run times give managers a full featured yet cost-effective power protection solution.”
Eaton says the line also includes universal HotSwap Maintenance By-Pass modules to enable the UPS to be replaced, serviced or upgraded without interrupting the supply of power.
