Dell Releases New SMB Server

September 11, 2008: In a bid to address the needs of small to medium-sized businesses, Dell has expanded its server lineup with a new, entry-level server aimed at businesses looking to build a networked server environment on a budget.

Dell’s PowerEdge T100 starts at US$449 (AU$552) and according to the company it is an ideal first server due to the security, flexibility, scalability and simplicity it offers.

The T100 features a Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor, can handle 8GB of memory and 2TB of storage, and has colour-coded internal components to simplify use.

For security it features an internal, locked-down USB 2.0 port, a chassis intrusion switch, Trusted Platform Module chip, and RAID architecture that can prevent data loss by transparently performing data backups.

“Customers want systems that are easy-to-use, affordable and help protect their most precious asset – information,” says Sally Stevens, director, Dell PowerEdge Server Product Group. “With products like the PowerEdge T100, we are investing heavily in our server and storage solutions specifically geared toward the issues our customers tell us are most important.”
