Super Talent Releases Speedy SSDs

September 18, 2008: Super Talent has launched two new series of solid state disks (SSDs), dubbing them ‘fast’ SSDs for their substantially improved performance.

Part of Super Talent’s MasterDrive family, the new drives support up to 170 MB/sec read and 130 MB/sec sequential write speeds – significantly greater than existing SSDs.

Based on a new multi-channel SATA II (3.0 Gbits per sec) controller, the MasterDrive OX uses MLC NAND Flash to transfer data at speeds up to 150 MB/sec (sequential read) and 100 MB/sec (sequential write).

The second addition, the MasterDrive PX, employs SLC NAND Flash for greater reliability and endurance, and supports “breath-taking” sequential read and write speeds of up to 170 and 130 MB/sec read and write speeds respectively according to Super Talent.

Both drives are available now with the MasterDrive OX offered in capacities up to 128GB, and the PX available in 32 and 64GB capacities.
