Pegasus Imaging trots out new Viewer
October 7, 2008: Pegasus Imaging Corporation has announced a major upgrade to Prizm Viewer, the browser-based image viewer.
Prizm Viewer v8 allows users to navigate, view, annotate and share images, CAD and PDF files residing in document management or enterprise content management systems via a web browser
Prizm Viewer is used for distribution of mission-critical documents in Oracle, FileNet, Documentum, and other systems. By creating web pages containing simple instructions, organizations can present multiple files to users as one “virtual document,” control almost every aspect of the end-user viewing experience, and enable collaboration through centralized realtime annotations.
Prizm Viewer offers a wide range of capabilities, including the ability to view dozens of image formats through Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers, make shared annotations on the documents, work with large images, navigate using thumbnails and search PDF documents. Document management systems are used with Prizm Viewer via the web to enforce access and usage rights.
“Browsers have limited image display capabilities—viewing and working with documents requires an advanced set of features,” said Jack Berlin, president of Pegasus Imaging. “The new version of Prizm Viewer significantly enhances the product’s usability, file format support, display and navigation options. Prizm Viewer is already a document imaging industry standard, and we believe these enhancements will further broaden its appeal to end users and system administrators alike.”
IT administrators can use Prizm Viewer as the cornerstone of enterprise solutions for document delivery and collaboration. They can package groups of documents for users, control the user viewing experience, centrally store annotations and build collaborative document workflows.
Version 8 now supports PDF up to v1.7; CAD formats, including DWG, DXF and DWF; image compression algorithms JPEG 2000, JBIG2, HD Photo (JPEG XR) and PNG; and AFP (MO:DCA) formats used by IBM® systems.
