Kaspersky to Open Local Office
Kaspersky to Open Local Office
October 15, 2008: Web security firm Kaspersky Labs is expanding its footprint down under, with its founder Eugene Kaspersky in Australia to announce the company’s new Melbourne office.
The Russian firm’s local Australia office is the second announced south of the equator in as many weeks, with a new office in Selangor, Malaysia also opened by Kaspersky last week.
Kaspersky's Australia-New Zealand manager Alexey Gromyko will head Kaspersky’s Oceania operation, and according to Gromyko the firm will be hiring a local security researcher and anti-malware expert.
A local office gives the firm a much better foothold in Australia for sales and support, and according to Kaspersky it will eventually establish a local research and development team.
The company says that the Australian market is quite attractive as “it is essentially a country of small to medium businesses, and our product range is very well optimised for such companies,” according to Kaspersky corporate communications manager Timur Tsoriev.
The company adds that it is expanding its operations quite rapidly at the moment, with new offices in Dubai, Miami, Italy and Spain among others to be opened down the track.
