Kroll Ontrack Releases SSD Data Recovery Solution
October 20, 2008: Data recovery technology specialist Kroll Ontrack has announced that it is now offering a “more complete” data recovery solution that includes Solid State Disk (SSD) and Flash capabilities.
The company says it can now successfully recover data from flash media and solid state disks (SSDs) thanks to newly developed tools and techniques.
Kroll says that if an SSD or another Flash memory device has an operational failure or gets physically damaged, its engineers can still most likely recover data.
With SSD technology becoming rapidly more ubiquitous, disaster and data recovery solutions that can deal with the new tech are becoming increasingly important.
“Flash memory is a key technology enabling new designs for many products in the consumer and enterprise markets. However, the new developments and enhancements to the technology – larger storage capacity, diverse applications and performance – don’t exempt flash and SSD media from data loss,” says Sean Barry, senior Ontrack Data Recovery engineer.
“Flash and SSD storage can suffer some of the same causes of data loss as traditional storage such as hardware failure or human error.”
