LG Mixes Blu-Ray with NAS

January 12, 2009: LG is claiming a world’s fist this week, with the debut of a new network attached storage (NAS) device featuring a built-in Blu-Ray drive.

Previewed at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, LG says that the device is designed for “sophisticated tech consumers and small office-home office (SoHo) users”.

The company says the combination of network storage and next-generation optical technology creates a secure storage option for large amounts of data with the capability to read and write in high definition.

“Safe and secure storage of digital content is a top priority for techies and SoHo users alike,” said Peter Reiner, senior vice president, marketing and strategy for LG Electronics North America.

“LG's NAS device […] not only provides data security but also offers large storage capacity and gives users the flexibility to read and write Blu-ray.”
