Ricoh opens $A3m Sydney Print hub

April 20, 2009:Ricoh has taken the wraps of a $A3 million Printing Innovation Centre (PIC) in Clarence Street, Sydney, one of five similar centres located around the globe.

The new centre will function as both a product sales centre for Ricoh equipment and a 12-person software development hub.

“Through our global network of PICs, we will be creating centres of excellence in imaging processing and digital technology that are located in key geographies,” said Les Richardson, Managing Director of Ricoh Australia.

There are state of the art videoconferencing facilities and the promise of experts on hand to help customers solve any difficulties.

Although Ricoh is keen to emphasise its more than just showroom, the facility will have all the latest of Ricoh's systems for printing and document workflow on show.

Maria Vamvakinou, Chair of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Innovation and Federal Member for Calwell, opened the centre on behalf of Innovation Minister, Senator Kim Carr.

"This Centre is a strong example of a multinational company working with local small and medium enterprises to provide innovative solutions for their customers," MsVamvakinou said.

"By working with local information and communications technology companies, Ricoh is moving towards a business model that involves providing solutions that enhance and extend the functionality of their products.

Software developed at the centre will integrate Ricoh products into customer's information technology systems across the Asia- Pacific region.

"It is great to see companies such as Ricoh investing in research and development, particularly in the current economic climate," MsVamvakinou said.
