Nexsan Joins Green Grid

By Greg McNevin

November 9, 2007: Storage vendor Nexsan has become the latest company to join The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to pushing data centre energy efficiency as far as possible.

Nexsan already considers itself an industry leader when it comes to energy-saving storage systems, in no small part because of its AutoMAID technology which it claims can dramatically cut power consumption, in some cases by as much as 25 times.

By joining the Green Grid the company says will be both incorporating the group’s standards into its technology, and working in tandem with current Green Grid members to develop meaningful, platform-neutral standards, measurement methods, processes and new technologies to improve data centre efficiency and performance.

“Joining The Green Grid marks another significant milestone in our ongoing and aggressive commitment to providing customers with the highest levels of energy efficiency and open standards in our line of storage solutions,” said Philip Black, CEO of Nexsan Corporation.

“Our solutions adhere to the highest energy savings standards worldwide and we have consistently proven to customers that we can reduce their storage power consumption by as much as 25X without sacrificing performance.”

Current members of the group include AMD, APC, Dell, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Rackable Systems, SprayCool, Sun Microsystems and VMware.
