Recovering with IBM Australia
June 17, 2009:IBM Australia has announced a new Virtual Server Recovery (VSR) and Information Protection Service (IPS) offered on the VMWare platform.
It is designed to offer dedicated backup and recovery resources in Australia on IBM’s shared recovery platform, promising up to 80 percent faster recovery times at 15-40 percent less cost than traditional remote data protection methods.
Using the IBM shared recovery platform, IBM manages the underlying infrastructure and allocates the required resources (CPU, Memory and Disk) to a client account on the system. Management of this resource is then passed to the client so they can adjust system requirements as needed. This can be managed via remote connectivity or by visiting the IBM recovery centre.
“Under this model, IBM manages all of the client’s hardware and software costs, along with future capacity planning, the client only pay a monthly fee for the allocated resources. Additional capacity is available and is easily allocated. The key features and benefits of the solution are ideal for SMEs, manufacturing and distribution companies,” said IBM’s Business Continuity and Recovery Services (BCRS) executive Andrew Fry.
