Petroleum Safety Gets Objective

November 13, 2007: The National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority (NOPSA) has signed on with enterprise content management provider, Objective in a major deal for the company.

Considering the industry is worth $18 billion and employs over 14,000 people, the deal with NOPSA is another in a string of big scores for Objective. NOPSA is a commonwealth statutory authority responsible for health and safety control and legislation in the industry.

“As a regulator, we demand of our customers a high degree of managementand control of information and processes. We believe it to beincumbent on us to operate under these same demands.” John Townsend, Chief Information Officer, NOPSA said. “With Objective, NOPSA can rely on a robust repository and workflowengine to implement processes to support the integrity of itsoperations.

According to Townsend, Objective will also allow the validity of the authorities assertions in a major investigation should they be challenged, “we would have a robustaudit trail of processes and decisions and how those decisions weremade” He said.
