Acronis integrates dedup and backup
July 8, 2009:Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 is a new range of disaster recovery products that combine data deduplication, enhanced support for virtualenvironments, and centralised management features based on the company’s disk imaging and bare metal restore technology.
Without the need to purchase additional hardware,Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 is capable of backing up and restoring any Microsoft or Linux-based servers or workstations to their full operating state prior to any failure. This comprises the entire hard disk including operating system, or individualapplications, updates, settings, and data.
It supports virtual environments from VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix Xensource and Parallels. The product includes a new host-based Virtual Machine (VM) backup agent, enabling backup and restore of live VMs through VMware ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V APIs without installing a client in each VM.
Bill Taylor-Mountford, General Manager of Acronis Australia and New Zealand, said: “Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 is introduced as a comprehensive, feature-rich enterprise-level solution but priced for SMBs, which fits nicely in the ANZ market where majority of the businesses are SMBs. They can now take advantage of an enterprise-class service, an affordable price point and significant cost savings in an easy-to-use package. In fact, a few of our existing customers were involved in the beta testing process. The feedback wasexceptionally positive. We are very confident our partners will have an even stronger second half of the year with this new offering.”

The solution has the ability to scale to thousands of machines, enabling an IT administrator to design and execute a backup strategy around the globe and match the growth of a business.
