Presto makes for a social library

A new version of Inmagic Presto enables non-technical library and information professionals to create social libraries that collect, organise, manage, share, and socialise information assets.

“Presto for Social Libraries allows organisations to fully utilise their library assets, making them available for easy access, discovery, and socialisation,” says Dave Golan, Vice President of Library Solutions and Client Services for Inmagic.

The latest knowledge publishing and discovery capabilities of Presto are combined with the library management capabilities of Inmagic’s Genie technology, including:

- Advanced serials functionality: Capabilities include arrival date prediction, routing lists, and workflow;

- Easier configurability: Updates to functions such as report-driven batch e-mail and alternate search syntax for easier library administration;

- Improved SharePoint compatibility: Search SharePoint content from Presto (and vice versa) for broader information access;

- Improved user experience: RSS feed enhancements include a customisable display with descriptions, images, and metadata details;

- Simpler federated search management: Users can easily create federated search adapters to access external content, such as subscriptions, journals, and research information;

- Robust security: Reduces risk through better security and management of the SKN; and

- Enhanced community and profiles: “People” are a searchable content type. Additional profile customisation and personalisation capabilities make finding subject matter experts easy.
