PiranhaDox bites into ediscovery
Extractiva has announced the release of PiranhaDox, a full-featured e-discovery production and review suite with built-in early case assessment, rapid production, full text indexing, and review functionality.
PiranhaDox allows end-users and service providers to process and start reviewing 1 gigabyte of data in five minutes, and to easily process over 1 terabyte of data per day on a single machine.
By putting sophisticated engines under an easy-to-use interface and greatly improving on the slow processing speeds typically associated with e-discovery products, PiranhaDox promises to revolutionise the way e-discovery data is processed and reviewed.
The typical user can start processing in minutes, with no training required. With this kind of functionality, PiranhaDox allows in-house litigation support staff to process data with the same precision and speed of the largest vendors.
The early case assessment functionality allows users to potentially cull large data sets to a fraction of their original size, saving thousands of dollars in processing and review costs. By processing large data sets in a matter of minutes, law firms can commence the review stage much sooner than with previous software applications used in the industry.
Using traditional methods to process Enron case's data (43 gigabytes of emails and attachments totaling over 1.2 millions documents) would require complex installation of 20-100 servers, well-trained EDD operators, and weeks to months to process the data.
Extractiva claims that with PiranhaDox, the same data was fully processed on a single workstation in 40 minutes by a paralegal (with 10 minutes of installation and training).
PiranhaDox is fully multithreaded, runs on Windows 7 and Windows XP, 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. The software includes support for full-text searching and indexing, so no third-party review tool is necessary, although PiranhaDox supports exporting data to external products, and has a full set of production and post-processing functions. The product includes support for hundreds of file formats, full Unicode international language support, and the ability to produce data to images including TIFF and PDF files.
