AvePoint updates DocAve platform

AvePoint has launched a new Governance Automation product for SharePoint on its DocAve platform.

“Governance Automation is the result of working closely with our customers’ enterprise-scale, mature SharePoint deployments, and developing a solution to meet their need of bringing business and IT stakeholders – as well as their users – onto the same page over SharePoint governance,” said Garth Luke, General Manager of AvePoint Australasia.

“There was no technology in the market available that could give IT the ability to centralise and manage the multitude of SharePoint service requests from end users and business owners, define approval processes behind these requests, and automate them in accordance with their SharePoint governance policies. You can already set many of these policies with our flagship DocAve software, so Governance Automation presents that extra layer connecting end users with business owners and IT in their quest for enforceable SharePoint governance.”

Utilising DocAve 6, Governance Automation delivers governance enforcement and automated management, allowing:
- Business Users the ability to submit service requests, such as a new site, that are subject to management and IT approval so that any changes made to SharePoint sites are made in full compliance with governance policies;
- Business Owners to have full visibility and auditing into who is making SharePoint requests, how long are approvals taking, and who is making approval decisions in order to report on SharePoint accountability and chargeback; and
- IT Administrators to define policies, metadata, approval processes, permissions, and auditing parameters associated with SharePoint management tasks, including site provisioning and maintenance, in order to meet organisational requirements.
