Fuji Xerox Australia boosts MFD connectivity

Fuji Xerox Australia has launched new SharePoint and mobile connectivity for its multifunction devices (MFDs) in an upgrade to its proprietary software platform, Image Gateway for Apeos 2.6 (IGA 2.6).

Image Gateway for Apeos (IGA) is a component-based software platform that was developed in Australia for Fuji Xerox ApeosPort multifunction devices (MFDs). It comprises a number of different modules that can be combined to build a tailored solution for each individual organisation’s requirements.

The modules offered from the IGA platform range from server based cost management, advanced scanning and faxing features, bidirectional communication into Enterprise Content Management systems (ECM), and mobility solution. Modules available in IGA 2.6 include Cost Management (ACCRU), ECM Integration, Advanced Scanning, Mobile for Enterprise, SIMEGY, Rules and Routing, and a Fax module.

The latest version of IGA, 2.6, includes new modules, such as connection to Dataworks and SharePoint 2010, and Mobile for Enterprise, an application that enables users to operate the features of IGA 2.6 in their smartphone or tablet. Mobile devices can be used to complete tasks in a framework that is secure, so the organisation is protected from risk.

“With the introduction of IGA 2.6 and Mobile for Enterprise module, users can experience similar functionality they are familiar with from a PC/laptops directly from their smart phones and tablets, such as securely printing photos or documents stored on a smart phone and tablet or printing files stored within their Enterprise Content Management System.  IGA’s Mobile for Enterprise provides a number of different printing methods from print queue to printing via QR code or NFC(Near Field Communication)” said Fuji Xerox Australia’s Antony Bauer, Solution Marketing Manager for Software.

“IGA can integrate with a business’s Enterprise Content Management system (ECM), so documents and images can be uploaded from mobile devices to the ECM and downloaded from the ECM to mobile devices.”

Documents can be scanned on a Fuji Xerox multifunction device (MFD) and sent directly to mobile devices.  All the features of IGA’s Mobile for Enterprise module can be tracked to control and disperse printing costs from mobile-generated print jobs.

These advanced functions mean that employees can be free to travel and operate from remote locations, without the need to return to the office for documents.

Current users of IGA version 2.1 and 2.5 can upgrade for free to version 2.6 and benefit from the following enhancements: ability to upload documents from the Web from a PC or mobile device to be printed on an ApeosPort multifunction device. Emails can be printed from a mobile device, sent to an ApeosPort multifunction device’s print queue, as part of IGA’s ACCRU accounting feature.

IGA 2.6 also includes a number of performance enhancements, including a reporting engine upgrade for sites with large numbers of registered users, and more options for configuring the MFD, so organisations can set up custom interfaces, and present their most used features at the home screen.

Additional modules available in IGA 2.6 allow users to:

- Securely capture and route documents

- Integrate and leverageexisting infrastructure

- Enforce document security to meet compliance requirements
