Tandberg takes on NAS market

Tandberg Data has introduced the DPS2000 NAS Series, a new family of disk systems that ship together with AccuGuard, a Windows-based backup and recovery software created with small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in mind.

In combination with AccuGuard, the DPS2000 NAS (network-attached storage) provides automated data protection, including simple cross-platform file sharing, consolidated iSCSI storage, improved backup and recovery capabilities and remote replication for off-site data storage and disaster recovery.

It can be configured as a file server and/or an iSCSI target server providing simultaneous file-level access and block-level storage for maximum disk utilisation. Each file-level volume can be used for file sharing, disk-to-disk backup and IP video surveillance.

As many as eight, unique iSCSI targets can be maintained simultaneously, allowing users to extend local storage for multiple servers without system disruption.

The DPS2000 NAS solution ships with a single server version of AccuGuard software, which provides backup and recovery utilising a powerful source-based data deduplication engine designed to increase effective storage capacities by as much as 20 times.

The DPS2000 NAS comes in a desktop configuration with 4TB or a 1U rack-mount configuration with either 4TB or 8TB.
