EMC Augments RSA with Verid

June 5, 2007: Continuing its run of acquisitions, EMC has acquired information security specialist Verid and its knowledge-based authentication solutions.

The deal further extends the EMC’s security division, which was significantly boosted last year with its acquisition of RSA. With the purchase of Verid, EMC claims it will now be able to offer its customers protection, visibility and business acceleration at every point of the verification process.

EMC says that RSA can also now offer continuous security starting with the initial user identity verification, and retaining vigilance across the various channels of user interaction.

“RSA currently has more than 100 million online financial services user accounts under contract across the globe," said Christopher Young, Vice President, Consumer and Access Solutions at RSA.

“The acquisition of Verid both builds upon our existing set of authentication methods and – significantly – extends our capabilities into the preliminary vetting and verification stages of new user relationships in a variety of markets.”

The deal has already been completed and no details other than the acquisition announcement have been released to date.
