Kano Releases New NAS Family

June 21, 2007: Network attached storage (NAS) specialist Kano Technologies has released a new range of enterprise-class network storage offerings that utilise Intel dual-core processors and are aimed squarely at small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

The NetCOR NAS Enterprise Series is a rack-mounted range of appliances that support up to 12 terabytes of protected data storage. And if that isn’t enough capacity, multiple terabytes of NetCOR IP-SAN storage can be added via iSCSI integration.

Kano claims the device’s enterprise-level performance comes from its 3ware 9650SE RAID controller, while its software bundle offers top end protection, usability and flexibility.

Unlike enterprise kit, the company says NetCOR NAS installation takes just a few minutes, while its StorNAS browser-based GUI software makes it simple for SMBs to use and manage.

It supports data access controls at the user and volume level, snapshot and backup tools for data security and recovery, and is compatible with all major operating systems including Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX.

The NetCOR also serves data to both CIFS and NFS clients, enabling integration with Windows Active Directory Services.

“With the new NetCOR NAS, Kano has introduced the most complete suite of NAS tools for the SMB market,” said Kano sales manager Robert Young, “The NetCOR family offers enterprise-level features in a package that is easy to install and use.”
