Hitachi Exhibits a Legend

May 8, 2007: CeBIT Sydney 2007 provided the perfect landscape for SA based Legend Performance Technology to unveil the industry’s first 1-Terabyte single 3.5 inch hard disk drive.

Legend is the authorised distributor of the Hitachi drive and used the CeBIT event to showcase the economical capabilities of the 1-TB storage drive.

According to Adam Way, Hitachi product manager for Legend, the 1-TB hard drive represents a milestone 50 years in the making. “It reasserts Hitachi’s leadership as the highest-capacity, lowest-cost storage technology,” he says.

Labelled by Hitachi as the Deskstar 7K100, Legend showed CeBIT visitors how the hard drive could be integrated into a PC. The product is primarily targeted at consumers, marketed off its ability to store video, photo, music and other valued data, but it should also serve the needs of the SME community well.

Legend says it will ship the Hitachi Deskstar 7K100 mid year for AUD$599.
