NetApp and Oracle Form Unbreakable Team

May 8, 2007: Netapp has announced its support of Oracle’s Unbreakable Linux, promising more flexibility, reliability and simplified data centre management.

The two say they will be working together to help customers lower total cost of ownership, reduce complexity and provide better management options for Linux grids with NetApp’s virtualised storage and data management solutions.

NetApp’s kit will be offered in “Oracle Validated Configurations” which the two companies claim offer easier, faster, and lower-cost deployment Linux deployment for enterprises.

Further to this, NetApp’s Global Services will offer services both directly and through its channel partners, to aid migrations.

“Linux brings flexibility, reliability, and simplicity directly into the data centre, which is also where NetApp brings unmatched value in terms of scalable, modular, cost-effective storage and data management solutions,” said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions and Alliances at Network Appliance. “NetApp support for the Oracle Unbreakable Linux program provides customers with improved business agility and application uptime, while lowering their overall IT costs.”
