Australian Customs signs $4.1 million EDRMS deal with LogicaCMG

May 22, 2007: Customs has signed a $4.1 million deal with LogicaCMG to implement Open Text’s LiveLink ECM-eDocs software for the organisation.

The tender was initially released in November 2005 and the implementation will support Customs’ Records & Information Management System (RIMS) Project.

Customs CIO Murray Harrison said that in its first phase during the second half of 2007, the EDRMS would replace a 20-year-old legacy application for the management of Customs physical files. Electronic document management will be implemented as a second phase during 2008.

'When fully implemented, the RIMS Project will ensure recordkeeping in Customs satisfies legislative obligations and contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations,' said Harrison.

In a press statement, Customs said the solution was chosen because:

* it meets statutory requirements and relevant standards for recordkeeping and provides the functionality prescribed by Customs;
* LogicaCMG has demonstrated the capacity to implement and support the application; and
* it represents value for money.
