Expert Advice for Business Continuity

February 20th, 2007: 2007 is looking to be a big year for business continuity, and to harness the rising importance a UK Business Continuity expert has hooked up with local Australian practitioners to stage a series of free seminars.

The seminars will focus on strategies for implementing real-time high availability, off-site disaster recovery and centralised backup solutions. Mark Buckland from Double-Take Software in the UK will join Kelly von der Heyden and Viktor Babkov from Business Continuity Asia Pacific, to demonstrate technology and methods to address the availability of critical data and applications.

To be held in Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland, Wellington and Melbourne and entitled ‘Real-time Data Replication and Protection’, the seminars will include a live demonstration of switching off a SQL and Exchange server and failing over to a back up machine - essentially cutting out crucial services that would hamstring many businesses.

Questions of how much an hour of downtime will cost in lost revenue, wages, data and productivity will be discussed, as will the impact of lost customer contact and how an hour of server downtime can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The seminars will also be showcasing two new Double-Take solutions, its Server Recovery Option for whole server replication, and Shadowcaster real-time data replication and protection for Microsoft Small Business Server.

The Australian sessions will be in Sydney on the 21st of February, Melbourne on the 5th of March and conclude in Brisbane on the 7th of March.
